Phumzile Langeni – Business Strategy journey into the high-flying world of finance was a result of a burning ambition she had as a young girl growing up in Umlazi (South of Durban) to make millions of rands and make her mark in the big city.
Ms Langeni was schooled at Durban Girls’ College, and read her BCom (Accounting) degree at the University of Natal, Durban. Now available through Speakers Inc
She was awarded the Dudley Wood Memorial prize, for attaining top marks for her Stock broking course, run by the University of Witwatersrand in 1996.
She is a Registered Person and a member of the SA Institute of Financial Markets.
Phumzile Langeni is currently head of New Business and an executive director of BJM Securities; a subsidiary of SA listed BJM Holdings.
BJM Securities is South Africa’s largest independent firm with a presence in the major financial hubs of the world –London, New York and Edinburgh.
Her move to BJM follows the transaction between BJM Holdings and Mazwai Securities.
She later joined Mazwai Securities as a director and equity liaison, servicing local and foreign institutional clients.

She joined SCMB Securities as an equity sales trader, serving local institutions in July 2001.
She and two other partners established Esibayeni Meat, a meat distribution company.
After being in existence for less than a year, the company counted amongst its clients Fedics Foods, TNT Technikon (Soshanguve), Johannesburg Hospital and other institutions and corporates.
A stockbroker by profession, Ms Langeni began her broking career with RAD Securities in 1997 where she practiced as an equity sales trader for both local and foreign institutions, and went on to serve as a director on the board.
She is a practicing member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers.
She is a member of ABSIP, the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals.

She has been invited to address a number of forums, including the BEE Conference by Marcus Evans, a SALGA Conference and many others.
Ms Langeni was instrumental in the formation of the People’s Bank/Sowetan Investor Education and Savings Program.
Ms Langeni speaks at various forums (women, student etc) about financial matters.
