With a background in drama, Rob Fridjhon – Corporate Conference Comedy has graduated to the tough school of comedy. His career covers a variety of theatre. His career covers a variety of theatre; film and television appearances include “Egoli”, “Suburban Bliss” and “Fishy Feshuns”. Movie credits include “Kickboxer II” and “Rhodes”.

Through various ensemble improvisational comedy groups such as NATURAL BORN KIDDERS and COMEDY CHAOS, Robert has had valuable experience in the art of real-time comic creation, which has prepared him well for the rigors of stand-up.

He was spotted at the popular venue, Hurricanes, in Johannesburg by the comedy legend Joe Parker who saw the raw talent within this Billy Joel look-alike.

Rob Fridjhon – Corporate Conference Comedy

After training as an actor at UCT, Robert enjoyed nine extremely successful years in theatre, playing leading and supporting roles in over thirty stage productions, from Shakespeare to contemporary comedy, earning him numerous awards and nominations.

Highlights include playing the psychotic villain, Jud Fry, in the national tour of OKLAHOMA! (for which he received an FNB Vita Award), as well as starring opposite Rex Garner in the smash-hit, VISITING MISTER GREEN, earning Robert another Vita Award nomination.

He was equally at home in front of the camera, having worked on international feature films, as well as local television, including guest appearances on EGOLI and ISIDINGO.

Robert also wrote, directed and produced a number of cabarets including JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH, MAN WITH A GUN and WITCHES & BITCHES, which opened to critical acclaim and played to sell-out audiences.

His most recent work, FRANKLY SPEAKING, is a full-scale musical, complete with nine-piece swing-band and is currently running at Carnival City. Follow Speakers Inc on Twitter

Finally succumbing to the irresistible lure of live stand-up comedy, Robert made the difficult transition from actor to comedian in 1999, almost effortlessly.

Previously under the management of comedy legend, Joe Parker, he spent three years honing his skills on the national circuit, while developing into one of the fastest rising stars in South African comedy.

His own one-man show, SOLE DOUBT, which ran at the Civic Theatre during September and October of 2001, proved to be an enormous learning curve for him. The critics were unanimous in their praise for his unique, trademark comedy …
