The author of ‘The Best Advice I Ever Got’ and ‘Conversations with JSE AltX Entrepreneurs’, Siya Mapoko – Business Entrepreneurship is an international speaker, seminar leader as well as a scientific and business leader.
Since the beginning of the 2000’s, he has researched diverse fields such as chemistry, biochemistry, MRI drug research (contrast agents), investment analysis, Equity Trading, Entrepreneurship, super-fast business growth strategies and leadership.
He graduated from UCT with a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry in 2002. In 2003, he spent time researching his MSc thesis at GlaxoSmithKline in England, where he focused on contrast agents for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Siya Mapoko – Business Entrepreneurship has also graduated from UNISA with qualifications in Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management.
In 2005, Siya joined Investec Asset Management as an Equities Trader and he was also a Financial Markets Reporter on SAfm.
He has spoken to thousands of people from around the world and he has been invited as a guest lecturer at universities and business schools in South Africa and in Europe.
His audiences have included diplomats from countries such as the US, France, Monaco, Austria and Belgium.
Siya has been nominated for a number of business and entrepreneurship awards. At the end of 2010, he was honoured by The Striding Man Society; an initiative of The House of Johnnie Walker – he was named one of 30 South African Striders and they featured him in their book titled ‘Celebrating Strides’.
In 2011, he was a finalist for Speakers Inc. with the ‘New Speaker of the Year Award’. In early 2012, he was voted as the third ‘Best Speaker’ out of 20 international speakers by the audience at The International Conference of Quality Managers in Tehran.
